B&B and apartment in the heart of Stavoren, Friesland. "Sleeping by the IJssellake" is very suitable for leisure and holiday stays. There are two apartments in total, both suited for 2-4 people. They are situated on the first floor of a typically old Dutch Frisian Dike house with stunning views over the IJssellake (the former Zuydersea, these days fresh water!). Enjoy a beautiful sunset and watch ships sail by from your own living room and idyllic roof terrace. The apartment is located in the quite and picturesque centre of Stavoren, one of the famous Frisian 11-cities. Ever since 950 BC Stavoren received city-rights, however these days it's a small village full of character incl. 5 harbours, little restaurants and bars, and off course the famous statue " the female of Stavoren".

Stavoren is reachable by car, train or in the summer even by ferry "De Bep Glasius" departing from Enkhuizen. There are free-public parking facilities in front of the house and the trainstation and ferryterminal are at 0,43 Miles walking distance (only footpassangers & bicycles). There are also some charging stations for electrical cars.

The sandy beach where you can swim, surf and sunbath is only at a 2 min. walking distance from the apartment. The accommodation "Sleeping by the IJssellake" is completely self sufficient; it has it's own rise and private bathroom (with a good shower!). The living room consists out of a built-in kitchen, beautiful lounge area, a queen size comfortable double bed and a pretty roof terrace. In a separate room there are also two single beds enjoying a beautiful view over the canal running along the front of the house. This means you have complete privacy.

Stavoren is one of the famous Frisian 11-cities. : "Elfsteden towns"

This location is ideal when you love cycling or hiking. There are beautiful paths along the dike, beach and in the forest (Rijsterbos). We recommend the Frisian coastal path (LAW 5-4), the Zuiderzee path (LAW 8) and cycle route LF22  which run directly along the apartment. Bikes are for rent opposite the B&B and we can store your bikes safely away at night. Even more importantly Stavoren is a sailors paradise, there are 5 harbours, small and large lakes suitable for sailing, wind- & kite-surfing, fishing and swimming which off course all can be seen from your own living room.

We know the area very well and we love to give you tips and recommendations so you can experience Friesland like a Friesian! In the apartment are also leaflets, magazines and books about the area and off course our recommendations on wining and dining and the most delicious restaurants in the area. We like to make your stay special and comfortable, so please do not hesitate to ask us for tips!

Parking and public transport:

Car: free public parking spaces are directly opposite the apartment.

Train: The apartment is easily accessible by train. The train station is at a 10 min. walking distance (0,43 Miles).

Ferry service: Stavoren <--> Enkhuizen, the ferry terminal is at a 10 min. walking distance (0,43 Miles), next to the train station, for more information please visit the following site: www.veerboot.info. Please note the ferry travels 3 times a day between 1 April untill the 1st October.

For reservations we kindly ask you to pay a deposit of 50% of the total sum. As soon as you have sent your request we shall send you your reservation details incl. our bank details. The remaining amount of money can be paid upon arrival. We have an English account (Barclays bank) and a Dutch account for your convenience.

Please note: if you cancel 90 days prior to your arrival we will refund your deposit. If you cancel within a period of 14 days before your arrival time we will charge you the full amount. We advice you to cover yourself with a travel insurance.
